ABOUT US
| We have decided to create an on-line presentation about our village as a window to the world through the World Wide Web. We aspire to create a meeting point for our fellow villagers, our friends and whoever else loves our village - as far away as they may be - as well as to give them the opportunity to be informed about the latest news of Kalamoti. We believe that this is a way to upgrade our village since our ultimate goal is for Kalamoti to obtain the leading role, which it has had for ages among the Mastichochoria (the villages of masticha / gum). In addition, we aim - through these web pages - to honor all those, who all these years have played an integral part in maintaining the historical importance of our village. It seems that lately not only the monuments, but also the village itself are left out of the maps and guides of the island of Chios, a fact, which does not represent its present or its past historical importance. Furthermore, it seems that the Greek government is not particularly interested in the fate of the village of Kalamoti. Our motives are: our love for Kalamoti, the sense that we contribute to the presentation of the land of the gum, and the deep respect for those who have tried to keep alive our village with their love, devotion and achievements. We hope that our initiative will be welcomed by all the villagers of Kalamoti, and especially those who belong to the "Aghia Paraskevi" Society of Attica, to which we intend to donate these particular web pages. | ||
